Guest post by Jennifer Boykin, VP, Marketing & Growth, Protech Associates

No one ever said finding your Association Management System is hard. Finding the right AMS? Now, that’s a different story.

To offer insight into the AMS arena, look no further than Protech Associates’ Jennifer Boykin, who decided to “Open the Kimono” to reveal the inner workings of the AMS search. Jennifer’s AMS knowledge and extensive experience in the nonprofit and association industry arms her with a unique perspective.

Using her knowledge, Jennifer joined with ReviewMyAMS’ Teri Carden to offer a webinar to give a look behind the curtain of the AMS industry, and to bring deeper awareness for your AMS transition.

Unless you’re completely new to the AMS process, you’ve probably heard — or experienced — a disappointment or two when it comes to living with your organization’s AMS. It’s easy to fall backward into the ordinary in the AMS space, with vanilla offerings available everywhere you turn.

So, what can you do to dodge these letdowns? Jennifer and Teri are just the pros to help you understand what can go wrong — and why. But more importantly, they’ll help you nail down some immensely effective strategies so you can avoid common problems.

Keep in mind the days of “down time” have diminished, and your AMS transition may never be convenient. So, take a breath, find your focus, and use these tips to guide you on your exciting new journey.

Steering Through the Selection Process

  • Select a superb AMS “Sherpa”: Find someone to shepherd you through the marketplace while you maintain your busy schedule. With a Sherpa at your side, expect to find an Association Management System that’s tailored for you.
  • You don’t know what you don’t know: Share information with your vendors to help their understanding of your starting point. Feel free to borrow their years of wisdom.
  • Get comfortable with being uncomfortable: When the pushback creeps in during implementation, remember that change is challenging. While turning back will feel easier, it’s worth overcoming a few hurdles to push forward.
  • Reap the rewards: It’s going to take time to pinpoint your perfect AMS — the same goes for the forthcoming training — but the end result is worth the wait.
