iMIS works - if you have the right support
Submitted Aug. 25, 2015
We have used iMIS at our association for many, many years. We are not on the current version but looking to make that upgrade soon. From my perspective in the financial role, iMIS is set up and has been for many years to give me the information that I need. I can run commission reports, dues adjustments, custom reporting, etc. all with reports that our consultant has set up. That is the key to using iMIS in my opinion - having a good partner who is an iMIS consultant and can set up all the crystal reporting and specific searches for you. I believe this has been a lifesaver for our organization as no one here is an "expert" on this software and we can't really do anything new without consulting our external consultant to have him do the work/setup for us. From a membership and communications perspective, it is certainly lacking. There isn't really a place in iMIS 15 that we are aware of that allows for tracking sales leads, prospecting, etc. from the sales side, other than just putting it in the "notes" section. We'd also like integration with our communications methods to see which members are actually reading out emails, which are participating in calls and committee meetings, etc. It seems that all of this can be done within the "notes" section, depending on how reliable and consistent your staff is in inputting the data. However, there is no integration to make these simple tasks easier and more automatic / less manual. This would be our biggest aggravation with iMIS. We have used it for many years but we feel like we are leaving membership money on the table because we can't use the AMS as it should be used to communicate between departments and keep our sales/communication efforts focused and adding value. We are using version 15 and we have seen some of the iMIS 20; however, there still seem to be some of these areas of our focus that aren't addressed with the upgrade, or are still in the process of being figured out by the ASI team.
