I have been using iMIS for over 13 years and it has become the backbone of our association. All of our member data, event, publications, services and billing are done through iMIS. We track engagement with our members and use the scoring module to provide that information to our members. We have also been able to automate certain functions that used to be done manually through the Process Automation.
WHat really frustrates me with iMIS is that there is zero automtion. Lots of things you just have to hire a consultant to program. It is not compatible with lots of programs, plug-ins, that allows you to customize your processes. Certification module failed for us, so we had to hire someone to create one for us. Every time you upgrade, you have to make sure your "custom" programs are 'clean' so they can be upgraded. You have to have a consultant on payroll if you ayhve any custom programs. If you have an IT Manager, they will need intense training.
iMIS does not come out of the box ready to use, and requires ongoing consultant support. The logic that runs it is not intuitive and the IQAs that underpin reporting are complicated to learn to use. If you are willing to commit the time and resources, it is a powerful tool with a lot of customization opportunity. Just be aware of what you are getting into.
Since I started using iMIS for my database management needs, it has made my life much easier. The user friendly interface and ease to run queries to pull out data is amazing. I can see membership trends, add events and bill my members os easily. The ability to customize makes it so much easier to use as I can add panels and other information parameters on my own without having to deal with expensive external services. I would definately recommend thid amazing product from ASI.
We have had iMIS for a looong time and we are looking to make a change... even though we realize the process will be challenging and disruptive. The upgrades are expensive and render prior customization un-usable. As stated by another reviewer, reporting is glitchy and less-than-trustworthy.
iMIS is an enterprise system which is a really good system if you need a customized database and are willing to pay for additional modules and third party add-ons. However, out of the box, it lacks a number of key features such as: process automation, recurring payments, robust engagement scoring, amongst a few. I would not suggest iMIS for a small organization looking for a turnkey AMS. We also utilized the website feature, RiSE.
The primary issue is the complexity of the system and the dependency on outside resources to help address questions or concerns you may have. While there are a ton of great resources out there, the issue is the cost associated with using them. If you have a complex membership structure or need to manage multiple tax ids or accounts, the system becomes very hard to achieve. The reporting capabilities, while nice appear to have discrepancies in the results returned based on corresponding reports that were created, which leads to trust issues in what is being returned.
